i downloaded a mod/map and its not in the game how do i get to use the mod/map

Well, if it's a map, you need the mod. If you don't know which. your out far.

Else if it's a mod, U'll need to install it inn your SII folder.
All the modfiles:
Stranded 2/mods/*modname*/
and a batch file in
Stranded 2/
witch reads:
1

title SII - *Mod name*
Start StrandedII.exe -mod "*mod folder*"
exit
