this problem exists even in the real cs if you have bad pings. its absolutely normal and it is raised by the fact, that the most servers are hosted with slow connections (dsl) and that the cs2d network code is miserable.

you have to consider that your movement messages and the shot messages of the enemy need a certain time. everything you send over the internet needs time to reach its destination - and it can get lost too! if the shot messages of your opponent reach the server faster than your movement messages which bring you behind the wall, the server will make the decision "player a shoots player b, because player b is NOT behind the wall". Better ping wins in this case.

Ping is the time in milliseconds your signal takes to reach the server.

@comment: I just read it in the faq thank you though

to reach the server and to come back to you.

no tausendstel(0,001) seconds i think?

its the time between send 32byte and get it back from the server.

@Sniper:
No... ping is measured in millisecs (1 second = 1000 milliseconds). If you have a ping of 100 it takes 100 milliseconds (0,1 secs) to send a message to the server and back. This means that it takes about 50 millisecs until your message reaches the server. This again means, that you have a 50 milliseconds (0,05 secs) delay in all your actions.

If you WOULD have a ping of 2 it would take only 1 ms (0,001 seconds) but this usually doesn't happen on the internet.

Ping 0 -> 0 seconds
Ping 50 -> 0,5 seconds
Ping 100 -> 1,0 seconds
Ping 250 -> 2,5 seconds
Ping 500 -> 5,0 seconds
...
..
.
