There are no plans for updates anytime soon. There are no changes in the pipeline either (except for a fix with os.dir slashes and an updated Russian translation). This doesn't mean that there won't be updates anymore but right now I fully focus on Stranded III and I have no plans to change that.

@user TobyInChina: A rank on a homepage? What exactly are you talking about? I don't understand why you're asking for a CS2D update.

@user Gaios: I won't do that because it would make developing cheat clients even easier. The old version is open source already. If you want to make a game like CS2D you can use that to get an idea how it works.

I am actually fine if this is the end, I mean, what else do we want? The game already has eveything we wanted and more. It is even available on Steam, who would have guessed that in 2009? Nobody!

The community and fun remains, but we can just wait for something new, maybe by someone else. But the memories stays forever.

We need to add support for the Russian language in scripts and everywhere: In custom menus, for example, in messages, in serverinfo (f1), in hudtxt. That's all I need, please make it the latest update. @user DC: Only this is not enough.

@user DC:
@user Gaios:

you'r partly right sir, as you already mentioned making a game open-source perhaps reveals new bugs and some may abuse them, but on the other hand, bugs will be detected by community (programmers i mean) and the game will be balanced and safe at some point (2 faces of a coin), i can use Wordpress as an example to show you why being open-source do not mean insecure and full of cheats, its a widely used CMS which also is open-source, but its not facing safety issue at all (as far as i know), please consider sharing the source and letting interested people to help with the development, at some point when the game lose its old players and become dead, there is nothing anyone can do, i know you are a very busy man and i appreciate the time you took to read this.

You also can't compare a rather static blog website with a real time multiplayer game client. In CS2D you could easily implement 100% client side cheats and this kind of stuff can't be prevented efficiently by any server. e.g. aimbots or wall hacks (no fow). Of course these cheats already exist but making it open source would make it even easier to always have them around.

It's also extremely unlikely that many people will bother to fight through the huge, old and crappy CS2D code base to actually do something productive and positive with it. Also that stuff is written In BlitzMax. Nobody should use that language/engine in 2020 and I do not want anyone to start with it because of CS2D.

Trust me. Nobody knows that game and its code better than me and I'm very sure that open source won't lead to good changes. It would be easier to write a new game. You don't need the source for that.

what if u invite more people to "the team"? programmers, community managers, etc. the game needs to be more active in social medias like at facebook and steam. people would be more active and playing if they see devs caring with them and with the game.

the game is empty not because its old, its because they think the game is dead. they probably never saw a news or an update.

what if SQ have more freedom to release his own updates, what if u let some active and trustable users work with community media, etc.? cs2d is a game that never gets old. it just need more attention. since u doesnt have time for it now, let us be a volunteer.

sry for the mistype, Im writing from my phone

@user mrc: I neither want to work in a team nor am I interested in managing one. Also having more people (which don't exist - at least not people who are interested AND qualified enough) won't solve the problems I just explained. SQ isn't interested in putting more work into CS2D either as far as I know.

For now I will only maintain existing features. The game is already over the top for BlitzMax game.
I've already invested a lot of time into mobile version. Priority would be to reach public version of it at least. Until October I've no free time.
