Hi, I used to play cs2d before I registered (2009 +/-) And I Stopped playing when LAG servers lost popularity, Clans were crazy, 5 big clans with their own servers, that was supposed to be good but idk what happened.

Nowadays I dont see any De_dust or office servers with good PING for me (Im from Dominican Republic). players just want to build, no more prison or the Good and classic game mode where you have to know how to move and how to aim in order to kill, bring victory to your team and be the best.

I miss old CS2D.

I used to play with 90-130 ping, and I was one of the best players out there, It was not easy to kill the 20 ping people but I could at least play equally, I worked hard to achieve that with my 356kb internet speed.

Now became a Counter-Strike: Global Offenive which steal all players from CS2D and CS 1.6 as well.

If CS2D wanna be awesome back, he needs some modern in-game features, new Menu (not 1.6), new sounds, new interface.. just take a look at CS 1.6 then at CS:GO, we don't wanna 1.6 style!

I own CSGO and I´d rather play CS2D with my friends if only it was like 6 years ago.

You can't expect people to replay the same map over and over again with no exciting updates...
That's how it work in my eyes:
Players played normal game modes (like de_dust)
Players got bored and created epic scripts (like RPG and Roleplay)
Players got bored and couldn't create anything better because of CS2D's limit and the lack of resources.
Players started to leave

That's an opinion of course

Idk why ppl only care about graphics, not the gameplay.

Did you ever try an old game? Like Quake, Nintendo Games, DOS Box Game, and somewhat else. People won't try it because after seeing it have horrible graphic, people won't play it either.

A lot of people wanted to download brand new game after seeing it have excellent graphic, even it have many requirements and space. Like Call of Duty Modern Warfare 1 to 3 and many others.

After people interested with the graphics, people will also focusing on gameplay and improving his/her skills, also be competitive player.

I do not know why old CS2D players didn't care about graphic, I bet old CS2D players having lags while gaming and lose reputations, then leave CS2D.

Why this old game needs new players? Why does user DC need to focus only one game, updating this game constantly only to gain new players? You see in this industry, games come and go. You need to face the facts that CS2D couldn't stay much longer. In fact CS2D is really old game, it survives through a decade. It's enough, and user DC should've focused on Stranded III, an original series, not derived from other games, unlike CS2D. CS2D will never, ever, going to be in Steam. It should be free and forever be free. This game will die soon enough. I'm not trying to be jerky-pessimist person, but just face it for once.

@user francis007: Those a lot of new players will see this game like a mini-game. Since it's name is "Counter-Strike 2D". If the game's name would be different and little bit gameplay too, then condition of this game will be diverse by now. They will think that "why I play this game instead of CS:GO?". And note that, it is not only about the PewDiePie's community, for everyone. I know that from my friends. No longer, the game doesn't give me taste as like old times too.

So yes, with my opinion, this is why CS2D has low amount of players. Let me remind you, cause of most people sees this game like a mini-game but they forgets one important thing, that is the game not be mini-game and won't be.

By then, how we will make this game to show people like a real game? I think only way is new and intelligent updates which is impossible for now, sadly.

TL;DR please shut up and don't make threads like this anymore, please... Just wait until DC finishes his Stranded III. After that, maybe there will be updates for make more players as I said.

I wanna add that, aside of the stuff you guys mentioned, an important factor is... summer.

For Europe at least, during summer a lot of people hang out more with friends, and generally stay out a big part of the day. During winter things are different, it's cold outside and people tend to stay at home at night. And play games.

Imo even if generally the trend is less players than before, we should wait autumn/winter to have an idea about the state of the playerbase.

+ 1 on updating the menu and everything else. We need a fresh design on everything. Maps and skins, as well as some other stuff, thanks to scripts, were upgraded and look much better. I am sure there can be volunteers with experience in PS or other programs to do the job.
