@ gotya2: No, this is only for HTC desire and ....
Not for HTC desire HD
The only way you can get your phone unlocked legally is to pay for it to be unlocked. It's ridiculously expensive. This happened to one of my friends while he was in England as well. Land of the skelms, bro.

Tell me the fucking price now. If you really bought in in Great Britain, then it is most likely a contract phone.
I had to pay around 530€ for my Xperia Play in Juli 2011. It was the unlocked one. The locked would have been 45€ more expensive with that contract. Not every phone has to be much more expensive when it is unlocked.
Unlocking your mobile in any other ways than through the phone company is illegal.
WRONG. It is legal to do this through any other phone company and certain other companies, as long as they are licensed to do so, under the original company, so they probably pay around £10,000 for all the traffic they get from it.
Plus, think of it on the plus side. You bought a Locked phone, which cost less and you have to pay around £20 (Normal Orange Unlocking Costs), when a Sim free phone is around £100+ on the normal price. It's a good deal, tbh.
