So I've downloaded both the .rar and .exe from the site and have had no luck in playing it because it gives the error message:

"Unable to initiale Graphics
Please check DirectX and GFX Drivers"

So I've scoured the internet and have yet to find any fix. Though I did notice there was one on the forum.. however the file is out of date.

So, does anyone have an answer?

(I have DirectX up to date as far as I'm aware though I'm willingly for someone to prove me wrong. I'm running an ATI Radeon 5450 series - of which I couldn't even find any updates)

do you run windows update? I highly recommend to run windows update and to install all available updates. maybe it also contains directx/driver updates.

also try running the game in windowed mode using the .bat files in the Stranded II folder.

Cheers for the reminder on Windows Update. I wish it'd download the additional updates really.. I presume they'd do more good than harm so let them update themselves.

If either of you are interested, I presume you are all Stranded geniuses at the game. I can assure you I am not. As a result of coming across this game today, I will be starting a blind playthrough of it. Just so you know, I'm not going to put any links because I believe there is a rule against it.

But there ya go. ;p

Well I installed a bunch of stuff which made my computer go a bit haywire and as a result I saw updates for my driver but unfortunately they didn't work and I had to restart my computer for it to calm down.. and now I can't seem to update my driver (due to it claiming it's up to date) or find the error messages I got before.

So I've installed a bunch of Windows Update but still cannot play the game. Same error message.

I'm convinced it's to do with those 2 error messages I recieved (they were the same error).

Any ideas? :S

Heh. This is a new computer with a built in ATI Radeon HD 5450 graphics card. I'm pretty confident it's not an old graphics card.

If I can play WoW and Fallout New Vegas on the highest settings possible whilst running Fraps and Audacity you'd have thought I could play Stranded right?

I've re-downloaded 4 times, I even tried Stranded 1 but it said there was something wrong with my graphics. I've used with mods i've used without.

I then asked two friends to download it and see if it worked and it did for both of them. One has an O.K. computer and the other has an awful laptop which doesn't even have a graphics card! Granted, it lagged horribly for him and he couldn't really play it.. but atleast it worked.

That has made me think it's not Win7 64-bit compatible?
