Stranded II General Which 3D modellor is best for stranded 2I use that..:)
The first thing to realise is that modelling for Stranded II isn't modelling for a game. It's modelling for the file formats that the game can read. As far as I am aware, Stranded II handles .B3D natively as its preferred format, but can also support .3DS (I can verify) and .X (unverified) files so any 3D modelling suite that can export to one or more of these formats will be suitable.
As with most types of applications, you're spoiled for choice between commercial, freeware and open-source. Commercial software tends to be more inclusive of features (such as animation support and other advanced features) being that you can be forking out over $1000 for some of these, Freeware software usually relates to a smaller scale application that is being developed by a singe programmer or a small team for more personal educational purposes than designing something with the end user in mind. Open-source software is usually worked on by a larger developer base, meaning its more likely to be packed with advanced functions, but they generally work in a modular manner.
My personal software comparison:
I hope this give some insight into the commonly used tools and please keep in mind, this is just MY opinion of these tools. Try them for yourself and see what sits well with you.
I'd love to use it in my mod.

Does anyone know how if it is posable to make a (Working) .3ds or .b3d file with Google SkechUp? I made a gigant city and used it in one of my Flash games.
I'd love to use it in my mod.

There are 2 options.
1: Buy GoogleSketchUpPro
2: Export it in the google format and send it to someone who has GoogleSketchUpPro to convert it for you.
Their tool, their rules.
but i agree they suck
joking. but really,is there anything free which can UV-map?
cannot animate though
But if you are a newbe at modelling try the trail of ms3d oder use wings 3d^^
Wings3D is easy and free, but cannot animate with this.
DeleD CE is mediocre and free, I don't know about animation with this.
Blender is complicated and free and you can animate with this.
Milkshape is easy and commercial, I think you can animate with this.
3DStudio is complicated and commercial and I know you can animate with this.
These are very sweeping generalisations of the software, but are indications of what to expect.
Same as wings3D but supports animation
The best deal if you are going commercial is to buy 3Dstudio if you know that you are a master
ITS EPIC!
I have it but i dont use it because I CANT!
