Depends on the topic. If it's a topic which is worth a thread, it's not against the rule. If it's just some shit to higher your "thread" count, then it's against the rules

it's rather pointless to post something in the trash section because it is the place where moderators move all the stupid threads which are pointless.

you can post something in the trash section when you are thinking that it is too stupid for the off-topic area. however in most cases it is better to post nothing if you are already thinking this way (because this probably means that it is rather pointless and trashy).

short: no it is not against the rules.
