Hello, world!
When discussing the competitive side of CS2D, DC has always voiced his skepticism about it — "I never intended CS2D to be played competitively." Every now and then, a few dozen players gather to do exactly what he advises against — play CS2D competitively. This year, we're doing it under the banner of FG2T (Final Global 2D Tournament), after a three-year hiatus since the last tournament.
Curious. Who exactly is participating in this event?
The keyword here is "global", which relates to both geography and player experience: While the majority of teams are European, we also have contenders from South America. As for player experience, both older (three-digit USGN IDs) and newer (six-digit USGN IDs) players are trying their hands at claiming the trophy.
Cool. Which maps are included in the map pool?
Teams are battling it out on 7 community-made maps. While CS2D's default maps provide a good basis for less serious gameplay, we had to adapt them for competitive play. Each map tells a unique story — not only through its visuals, but also through the people who spent countless hours on creating and playtesting it.
Awesome. Where can I watch it?
FG2T is currently finishing its group stage, with top 4 teams proceeding to play-offs. We'll be streaming these matches (in English and in Russian, on their respective Twitch channels) — and we'll upload them to YouTube.
